Seed Collection

Collection, Identification and Classification of Agronomic and Horticultural Seeds




In this activity we students are responsible to bring our corresponding seeds. This activity helps us to familiarize ourselves on different kind of seeds and also their botanical system, and what is the type of that seed.
So, here are some principles that we have done:

OBJECTIVES:
1.      To establish a collection of agronomic and horticultural seeds.
2.      To identify and classify the collected samples based on:
a.      Botanical system
b.      Agronomic/horticultural systems
c.       Seed types

MATERIALS NEEDED:

1.      Glass jars/vials with cover (small)
2.      Various agronomic and horticultural seeds
3.      Labeling materials
4.      Charcoal

PROCEDURES WE DONE:

1.      We bring different kinds of seeds which are respectively assigned to us. We make sure that the seeds that are going to bring are still viable and not damaged for ease classification.
2.      After bringing the seeds we packed it on small plastic bags.
3.      We classified those seeds pertaining to their family, local name, botanical name, and either what kind of seeds are those.
4.      After classifying each seeds, we prepared the big frame in which it is the place where the seeds are going to present for a very pleasant presentation.
